The Scandinavian-Russian prog metal band Royal Hunt took root circa 1991, when Moscow-based bandleader and keyboardist Andre Anderson met with three fellow musicians on a visit to Denmark - vocalist Henrik Brockmann, bassist Steen Mogensen, and drummer Kenneth Olson. The four decided to form a classic rock ensemble, firmly anchored by Anderson's gift for smooth and memorable melodic hooks (which demonstrated strong influence by classical music). One album after another quickly emerged (including 1994's Land of Broken Hearts, 1995's Clown in the Mirror and 1996's Moving Target), all heavily lauded by critics, with an increasingly progressive sound. Now, in the home video release Royal Hunt: Live 2006, the band - fronted by a new vocalist, John West -- delivers sixteen of its biggest hits, predominantly culled from their albums since 1991, with several tracks from the newest album, Paper Blood. The performance was filmed before a live audience of 1,500 in Russia's St. Petersburg Music Hall. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide
